Amid continued pressure from high living costs, Thai consumers are placing greater emphasis on maintaining liquidity and managing large expenses more carefully. Communication devices and technology products are no longer viewed simply as lifestyle purchases, but as essential tools for work, education, online commerce, and income generation.
This shift has increased the role of installment services as a financing option that helps consumers manage spending over time, particularly as households remain cautious about taking on new financial obligations and continue to prioritize responsible financial planning.
Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC) is expanding its point-of-sale financing services through the KTC PROUD cash card by enabling participating merchant partners nationwide to serve as application points via QR code registration. Customers can receive approval results within 30 minutes and, once approved, access 0% installment plans for up to 24 months on eligible smartphones, tablets, computers, and IT devices under the “Mega Installment Campaign,” running from May 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
Currently, KTC PROUD cash card members can access the campaign through more than 1,500 participating stores nationwide. KTC expects the initiative to help drive installment spending through the KTC PROUD cash card by more than twofold by year-end, reflecting the company’s strategy to expand access to consumer financing through retail-based service points that connect with customers when they need financial solutions most. The program is also designed to help consumers manage expenses related to work, study, and everyday living more effectively, without making significant upfront payments.
Ms. Phichamon Jitpentham, Head of Personal Loans at KTC, said consumer behavior in the technology segment has changed significantly.
“Communication devices and technology products are no longer seen merely as tools for convenience or entertainment. Today, they have become essential tools for working, learning, selling online, and generating income,” she said.
“KTC therefore places strong emphasis on working with merchant partners to make financial solutions available at the point of purchase, covering the application and approval process through to installment selection. At the same time, KTC continues to promote responsible spending and repayment discipline in line with customers’ income, financial obligations, and repayment capacity.”
The “Mega Installment Campaign” is being conducted in collaboration with merchant partners nationwide across three key categories: IT and technology retailers, such as Banana IT, IT City, CSC, Advice, ASUS, and JIB; smartphone and gadget retailers, such as TG, Jaymart, and OPPO; and department stores and electrical appliance retailers, such as Power Buy and Power Mall. Consumers who do not yet hold a KTC PROUD cash card may also participate in the campaign by scanning a QR code at participating partner stores.
