KTC reveals that Thai pet owners — particularly cat enthusiasts — are increasingly shifting their spending from products to shared experiences, reflecting the strengthening trend of the Pet Experience Economy. The company recorded a 15% rise in pet-related credit card spending during January–February 2026, driven by the growing perception of pets as family members rathen than household animals.
Miss Sireerat Corvanich, Head of Credit Card Marketing Division, "KTC" or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, said “Cats have clearly transitioned into family status. As a result, spending patterns have shifted toward activities and services that enhance shared experiences. Consumers are increasingly allocating budget toward workshops, wellness services, activities, and specialised treatments. The momentum in the Pet Experience Economy indicates that emotional value, not just basic care, is now central to pet‑related spending.”
“KTC’s spending data for January–February 2026 shows a 15% year‑on‑year increase in the pet category, comprising 54% in spending at veterinary hospitals and 46% in spending at pet shops. “These figures highlight consumers’ rising focus on preventive care—such as health checkups, vaccinations, and specialized treatments,” Ms. Sirirat added. “These represent recurring spending behaviors that are steadily growing, underscoring the shift from mere pet ‘care’ to genuine ‘family care’.”
The growing trend is also reflected in the Thailand Cat Lovers Fair 2026, to be held from 27–29 March 2026 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. The event has evolved into a comprehensive experiential platform for cat enthusiasts, offering workshops, cat competitions, health education zones, and interactive activities designed to support modern pet‑inclusive lifestyles.
“To further support consumer demand, KTC is offering special privileges for cardmembers at the event, including the ability to redeem KTC FOREVER points for up to 18% cashback. These privileges are designed to help consumers manage their spending more efficiently while enjoying meaningful experiences with their pets. KTC will continue to enhance partnerships within the pet lifestyle ecosystem to meet evolving lifestyle needs and support the expanding pet economy.” Ms. Sireerat added.
