The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) Bangkok Office, in partnership with Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC), has launched the "Unseen Taiwan" campaign for the fourth consecutive year. The initiative invites Thai travelers to rediscover Taiwan through immersive experiences centered on nature, local culture, food, wellness, lifestyle, and secondary cities. Working alongside airline partners and online travel agencies (OTAs), the campaign offers a range of travel privileges designed to boost Thai outbound travel and spending in Taiwan during the latter half of 2026, reinforcing Taiwan's one-year extension of visa-free entry for Thai nationals and supporting TTA's target of 430,000 Thai visitors for the year.

Cindy Chen, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration Bangkok Office, said the Thai market remains a strategic priority for Taiwan. In recent years, Thai travelers have shown growing interest in exploring Taiwan beyond its well-known Taipei landmarks, seeking out nature-based getaways, cooler climates, local culture, secondary cities, and distinctive experiences that offer strong value for money.

"The Taiwan Tourism Administration places strong emphasis on promoting in-depth tourism through four key pillars: culinary experiences, culture, wellness travel (LOHAS), and LGBTQ+ tourism. These priorities are reinforced through partnership marketing and promotional campaigns that help convert travel interest into actual bookings. Our collaboration with KTC is an important channel for reaching Thai travelers, particularly those with strong potential to travel and spend during their trips," Chen said.

According to TTA figures, 212,226 Thai travelers visited Taiwan in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 3.42%, reflecting sustained demand for travel to the destination. In the second half of the year, TTA will continue working with airlines, OTAs, financial institutions, and cross-industry partners to raise awareness, stimulate travel, extend average length of stay, and drive tourism spending in Taiwan.

Ms. Varitta Phatanarajta, Head of Credit Card Marketing Division at KTC, said the fourth consecutive year of collaboration with the Taiwan Tourism Administration underscores KTC's role in connecting members' travel needs with practical, value-added privileges throughout their journeys. KTC, which serves a cardmember base of more than 3.5 million, continues to work with travel partners to give members access to more diverse and rewarding travel experiences.

"KTC credit card spending data for Taiwan in the first half of 2026 showed a 19% increase in transaction frequency, while the number of cardmembers traveling to Taiwan rose by 14% year-on-year. Key growth categories included restaurants, up 39%; convenience stores, up 33%; and duty-free retail, up 14%. This underscores that Taiwan is not only a popular short-haul destination, but also a market that clearly resonates with KTC members' spending behavior across food, lifestyle, shopping, and travel experiences," Ms. Varitta said.
