Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC) has identified evolving wedding trends among Thai couples in 2026, with younger generations increasingly favoring smaller, more meaningful ceremonies, environmentally responsible celebrations, and shared experiences with close family and friends rather than large-scale wedding receptions.
According to data from SabuyWedding, the average cost of organizing a wedding in Thailand ranges from THB 600,000 to THB 800,000 per couple, depending on the size and format of the event. Thailand’s wedding industry is estimated to be worth more than THB 50 billion annually, with approximately 260,000 marriages registered each year.
Major wedding-related expenses typically include venues and hotels, rings and jewelry, photography and videography services, as well as honeymoon and travel packages. These spending patterns reflect a growing emphasis among modern couples on structured budget planning and the overall experience surrounding married life, particularly beyond the wedding ceremony itself.
Key Wedding Trends for 2026
Based on spending insights from KTC credit cardmembers, the company has identified three key trends expected to shape Thailand’s wedding landscape in 2026.
Sustainable Weddings
Couples are placing greater emphasis on environmentally responsible celebrations. This includes the use of reusable decorative materials, efforts to reduce waste during events, and the selection of flowers and catering ingredients sourced from local producers.
Micro and Intimate Weddings
Traditional large wedding receptions are gradually being replaced by smaller gatherings of around 15 to 50 guests. This format allows couples to create a more personal atmosphere while spending meaningful time with close family members and friends.
Experience-Based Weddings
A growing number of couples are choosing wedding formats centered on shared experiences, such as destination weddings or celebrations that combine the ceremony with travel and activities involving family members and close friends.
Ms. Varitta Phatanarajta, Head of Credit Card Marketing Division at KTC, said spending data from KTC cardmembers indicates that modern couples are placing greater importance on financial planning and budget management while seeking wedding celebrations that reflect their personal identity and the meaning of their partnership. At the same time, couples are increasingly prioritizing financial flexibility and planning post-wedding experiences, particularly honeymoon travel.
In response to these evolving trends, KTC has partnered with SabuyWedding Festival 2026, one of Thailand’s largest wedding exhibitions. The event will take place from March 14–15, 2026, at Paragon Hall, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon, Bangkok.
Organizers expect the festival to attract more than 8,000 visitors and feature over 200 businesses from across the wedding industry, offering a wide range of products, services, and promotional packages for couples planning their weddings.
KTC credit cardmembers who make purchases at participating booths during the event will be eligible for several exclusive benefits, including:
- Siam Paragon gift vouchers worth THB 500 for every THB 50,000 in accumulated spending during the event using a KTC credit card, capped at THB 2,000 per card per day.
- Top Spender rewards for the two cardmembers with the highest spending during the event. Each winner will receive a one-night stay in a Deluxe Room at the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, including breakfast for two. Eligible spending must total at least THB 400,000, and participants must register at the KTC booth on the day of the transaction.
The list of Top Spender winners will be announced on the KTC website by April 16, 2026.
