KTC partners with Cathay to plant mangrove trees in Thailand's mangrove forests as part of the "1 Ticket 1 Tree" project.  The initiative is part of Cathay’s commitment to advocate of sustainability for the past 3 years.  The project is dedicated to supporting the local community and restoring habitats affected by ongoing environmental changes.  With a commitment to local stewardship and maximizing benefits for communities, KTC has jointly supported and expanded the project by planting an equivalent number of trees for mangrove reforestation as the Cathay Pacific airline tickets sold through KTC World Travel Service and paid for with KTC credit cards in 2023.  The KTC and Cathay teams collectively planted 4,000 trees at the Bang Pu mangrove site in Samut Prakan on March 23, 2024.

Mrs. Pranaya Nithananon, Head of Credit Card Marketing, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, revealed that KTC operates its business on the foundation of sustainability, integrating environmental, social, and governance considerations.  Through collaboration with partners, KTC offers members the chance to engage in responsible actions and address environmental challenges, which is also KTC’s core principle.  KTC’s partnership with Cathay to expand the "1 Ticket 1 Tree" project reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability, aiming to maximize benefits for local communities and raise awareness among members about the importance of planting mangrove trees in mangrove forests. Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in environmental preservation, notably in mitigating global warming by effectively sequestering carbon dioxide compared to terrestrial forests.  In support of this cause, KTC pledges to donate one additional mangrove tree for every Cathay Pacific airline ticket reserved through KTC World Travel Service using a KTC credit card.  This collaboration, initiated in 2023, has been ongoing, resulting in the planting of 4,000 mangrove trees to date.  In 2024, KTC members can continue to contribute to the "1 Ticket 1 Tree" project throughout the year.  Cathay initiated the "1 Ticket 1 Tree" project in Thailand in 2021 and has since expanded it to other countries in Southeast Asia.  This initiative has resulted in the planting of over 27,000 mangrove trees across the region.

Ms. Keri Lui, Country Manager Thailand and Myanmar, Cathay Pacific Airways, stated, "We are proud to continue our efforts to promote sustainability and contribute to the communities we serve.  Our commitment lies in forging a more sustainable future for generations to come, and we aspire to inspire collective action within society to effect positive change in our world.  On this occasion, we have invited 10 underprivileged children to join our activities, providing them with firsthand experience in reforestation and fostering a sense of sustainability.  Furthermore, we are delighted to collaborate with KTC, our like-minded partner, in our journey towards a more sustainable future."
